Assignment 25A- What's Next

Uncertainty Ahead 


What I think is Next:
            I do not think there are many opportunities in terms of producing different locks, because the main goal was to provide the most effectiveness. However, I could see the product expanding into different modes of transportation. There are other small modes of transportation such as electric skateboards, scooters, and motorcycles that this product could be adapted to in the future. Another place that this company could go into would be various scooter accessories such as shade covers and helmet cases. These are some of the products that they tried to sell to me while they offered the other locks to me when I purchased my scooter. 

Existing Market Interview:
            Due to the pandemic, I was unable to go out and conduct interviews with my existing market. However, I was able to reach out to individuals from previous interviews and show them my new concept venture. These interviews did not provide any greatly new information or feedback to my venture because of that. They had similar ideas to when I originally presented the concept and my ideas to them.

Reflection: 
One idea that I was able to extract from my interviews was the plan to sell other scooter accessories. The interviewee believed that I had good connections to Greek Life that would allow for success if I did create custom scooter accessories. I had not exactly thought of this because it is a completely different idea than before. However, dependant on the success of the lock, I could use this name recognition and my existing connections in order to be able to successfully complete a scooter accessory company. 

New Market:
            A completely different market than what I currently have I think would be focusing more on men. From my interviews, it seemed more likely that the females were concerned about their property. I’m not sure why this is, but I definitely need a better way to reach males and emphasize the protection of their scooters. Another market that is completely different is non-scooter owners. If there was a way to promote the sale of scooters, my market would expand and new customers would be created.

Reflection:
Overall, I obviously did not do a great job of establishing if these markets were evn possible to reach because I was unable to conduct interviews with the potential new market. I feel like we were all at a disadvantage because we could not conduct interviews. I am not sure if this is relatable, but I am having difficulties seeing what else my venture could be other than what I already have established. Therefore, this assignment proved to be difficult and I do not have a lot of support for my ideas.

    I think the idea of expanding to sell other scooter accessories is a great idea. I can see how once you have established a relationship with several scooter retailers, they would be open to selling more of your scooter accessories, since it's another way for them to make more money. This would probably be especially with popular with sororities and fraternities because so many of them have scooters and if one person makes an accessory popular, it trickles down and becomes popular among all of them.
