Assignment 18A-Create a Custom Avatar
My
product can be sold to businesses or individuals, but I have the perfect
customer avatar of an individual envisioned. The reasoning being, the customer
avatar is me and all the girls that surround me.
She
is 18 or 19 years old and is going to college for her first year. She is from
anywhere in Florida, most likely Boca or Tampa. She came to the University of
Florida knowing a lot of people, but eager to make new friends. She goes
through the week and a half long Panhellenic Recruitment process. She joins a
different sorority than all of her friends. She is very outgoing and
immediately makes a bunch of friends with the girls in her pledge class and
older girls. She just moved from an on-campus dorm from summer to a nicer one
further away from classes. She assumed it would not be an issue because she was
already acclimated from summer. The first day of the fall semester rolls around
and she is shocked by the thousands of more people that surround her compared
to summer. She notices that her class schedule is harder and her classes are
further apart. She needs a solution of how to make it across campus in the
fifteen minutes between blocks.
She
drives a white Jeep Wrangler, but having it at school does not help her. She
likes being with friends, any social outing, tanning, and playing with dogs.
Her favorite shows range from the Bachelor to 90210 and love binge-watching
series with her sisters. She cannot wait for the many date functions and events
that her sorority will hold for the year. She also wants to get involved in the
many clubs that the business school has to offer.
She
notices that all of her sisters and a lot of people on campus have scooters.
She thinks that her parents will never let her get one because they are
dangerous, expensive, and can easily be stolen. She figures if she tells them
that she will wear a helmet, help pay for it, and find a way to prevent theft
they will get in. Her main goal is to get a Violet Buddy Scooter and be able to
put her Greek letters on the side of it.
What do I have in common
with her? I basically
described myself in this post. I am a first-year student that is involved in
Greek life. I never thought I would get a scooter until I realized how big of a
trend it was and how many people actually had them. I did change things like
where I was from and what I like to do to be more representative of other
people.
I don’t think this is a
coincidence. No. I think I came up
with the scooter lock idea originally because I had just purchased a scooter a
month before and my friend in my sorority had just gotten hers stolen. I think
people tend to address issues that affect them personally.
Hi Mady!
ReplyDeleteI think it's interesting that you based your prototypical customer on yourself and your friends. Clearly this is a product that you see a need for because of your own personal experience as a scooter owner. Your description of her definitely painted a picture in my mind of many sorority girls I see on campus all the time. I loved how detailed you were in your description of her. And I don't know about you, but I had way too much fun designing my avatar! It took me back to playing games and designing avatars back in elementary school.
I also have the feeling that scooter theft is something people encounter more than not in Gainesville (I am an online student). I did know similar people in real life during my first undergrad experience at FSU. This avatar is relatable to those even outside the Gainesville area, but I also wonder if you could also have a market to those overseas in places like Spain or Italy where scooters are a cost effective way of getting around small European streets.
